My Journey: From Kathmandu to the USA тАУ A Dream in Motion
Born in Janakpur and raised in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal, I was always drawn to the limitless possibilities of technology. As I completed my 12th grade with a strong GPA, I stood at a crossroads: Should I pursue Civil Engineering, a stable and respected career path, or follow my passion for IT and Computer Science? My heart had already made the choiceтАФI was meant for IT.
With high hopes, I set my sights on Ascol College, NepalтАЩs most prestigious IT institution. But fate had a different plan. The admission cutoff was 66%, and I had 65%. A single point kept me from my dream college. It was a setback, but I refused to let it define me. I enrolled at Patan Multiple Campus for a CSIT degree, determined to prove that my journey had just begun.
However, life had another twist in storeтАФthe COVID-19 pandemic. Classes shifted to remote learning, and suddenly, the thrill of hands-on learning turned into hours of staring at a screen. Frustration set in, but it also sparked a daring idea. If the education I sought wasnтАЩt serving me the way I had envisioned, why not go beyond borders? Why not chase my dream in the land of endless opportunitiesтАФthe USA?
The thought was overwhelming. I had no clue where to startтАФhow to apply, which university to choose, what major to take, or even how much a flight ticket would cost. But one thing was certain: I was going to make it happen. I dove into relentless research, scouring university websites, analyzing acceptance rates, exploring dorm options, and understanding visa processes. I refused to let uncertainty hold me back.
After months of dedication and unwavering determination, the moment of truth arrived. On August 3, I passed my visa interviewтАФa nerve-wracking yet exhilarating experience. And just seven days later, on August 10, I was boarding a flight to Kentucky, USA. As I looked out the airplane window, watching Nepal fade into the distance, I knew this wasnтАЩt just a journey across continentsтАФit was a leap toward my dreams.
The transition wasnтАЩt easy. New culture, new education system, new challenges. But through it all, I found myself growing, adapting, and thriving. Every obstacle became an opportunity, every challenge a lesson. My passion for Computer Science intensified, and I pushed myself harder than ever before. Looking back, I see a young dreamer from Kathmandu who took a leap of faithтАФand landed in a reality more incredible than he had imagined.
Today, as I navigate my academic journey in the USA, I carry the same fire that once fueled my dream. The setbacks, the struggles, the triumphsтАФthey all shaped me into who I am today. And the most exciting part? This is just the beginning.
